Quad Pedal Car - 2025 late Xmas/early Birthday present ?

Blues on #373
The rest I can see :)
But the picture is ok in the album ?
missing-picture.png

It is BB-washers-DSCF9646 and why can't I find anyone else when using Google who claims to be having the same problems ? just me ?

Paul

After Mondays problems I had to get back on the horse and keep going so a trips almost to mum's today [ as she was going out ] then a swerve to a cafe for breakfast and a mosey to a hardware store to look at stuff ended up with about another 10 miles.
So now reached 137 miles on it ...

Today it seemed back to normal and I am getting used to it i though well what do I think is a quad with body work on good or bad.

Now when it is on a very smooth surface and I am not huffing and puffing up the hills [ it is to heavy ! and over geared slightly ] it is actually quite nice to drive and seems to garner a lot of attention.
However it can be bad when the surface is rough , it darts about nervously and the bodywork [ as is ] rattles/flaps & drums , it then of course dawned on me it is the same car ! it is just not designed for harsh surfaces and the bodywork being unfinished is not helping.

So this afternoon added some foam to the chassis sides at the front where the bodywork touches them hoping to quieten it down and started planning the rear end.

The black box will be bolted to the chassis and the tail bodywork will just consist of 2 sides bolted to the front section and a removable lid giving access to the box.
Around town the box will have some tools and room for a little clothing and shopping , when racing it will just have a compartment behind the seat to carry the camel-back.

Paul.
ps decided to count how many times the body has been off since first part fitted on Sunday the 23rd March
current count is 4 times !
pps shoes mod did not work ! now attacked with a hacksaw I WILL NOT BE DEFEATED :D they are only shoes

Please stop short of amateur orthopedic surgery, thank you - Or, if you don't, I'm hoping those posts at least, are blue ..............
BTW - The 2 above posts are blue now, for me.

Yes I have a bad case of the blues too. NVM I know what the car looks like. :)
There are 196 pictures in that album and now 44 of them are that advert !

Does anyone use the cloud for pictures ?
I am sure Virgin offer cloud storage with my bundle however if I did use it can I insert links into this forum ? or is that idea a non starter ?

Without a idea/solution I am tempted to try a blog instead ? anyone have/tried one ?

Paul

Used cloud for a short while. Soon, I ran out of room. They then wanted me to upgrade for a monthly sum £? Possibly a fiver. So in the end I switch all associations off with cloud, including supposedly free back up and email shadow. A pita really.

I think I mentioned it before, that we use Cloudinary for some photo storage : https://cloudinary.com/pricing
We don't use it for ALL the photos we have, as a lot of them are in hard storage, but it works great for anything you want to post.
My wife, who's an artisan jeweler, started using it when she joined a lapidary forum that required it for posting images.
She has a free account, and at this point has over 1,000 images stored there.
A free account gives you 25GB storage per month, so if you don't just routinely store stuff at absolute max. resolution, it should work pretty well.
It's been absolutely reliable, and I could pull up anything stored over the last couple of years, and it would be there to post.

DaleRider/Undertoad

Ok so that is an option , I would not load my pictures to the cloud ONLY content for forums and I always clip to 1200 pix across so maybe it would see me out ?

Paul

It's obvious, as seen above, that YMMV with this - Didn't work for Dale Rider / Works fine for me.
I guess you're just going to have to try something, as it's looking like Postimage is a slow-motion train wreck

Just to be more accurate, it was OneDrive MS thing that I tried; still a cloud base.
My email service filled up, stopping new emails, then other storage filled, so it was a battle trimming usage down until I pulled the plug.

The cloud storage we use is just for photos, nothing else - No e-mail.
I could see cloud-based email becoming a problem, especially with the huge amount of junk coming through.

I use mega.co.nz as cloud storage for all my pictures and important files. 50gb free and they have an app that automatically uploads anything you drop in a nominated folder. I think you can use it for forums but I don't as it's just my safe storage and I don't want others to have access there. It's run by Kim Dotcom of megaupload fame so he knows a lot about security. For forum use I copy pictures to imgur. It generally works fine. I'd never use a picture hoster as my only repository. They are simply too fickle and untrustworthy.

thanks Popshot , I will have to investigate as my Broadband supplier pulled the plug on their Cloud sometime ago apparently.
Ain't I glad I did not start using them !

I saw a recommendation for ImageShack a reasonable $ per year , however there is nothing but bad reviews on TrustPilot for them.....

If I understand this correctly the ' Free ' option would only allow 25 pictures to be added a month ?
If so it does not really do what I want ?

I will investigate Popshots suggestion.

So 4:30 hearing the rain lashing against the window I though no training/ride this morning .........

Then the penny dropped , surely one of the reasons for dragging all this body work about is so I can go out into the rain and I really need to find out if it is wind sensitive ?
Some of the velomobiles have problems with side winds as the centre of pressure is in the wrong place and I believe they weathercock in some wind directions.
So get up and the sun is shining and it is just breezy , set to and protected card top with a polythene bag and sallied forth as it were.
No real problems apart from noisy left brake [ rubbing again ] by the time I reached home.

So 12 more miles done making the current total 149 miles.

Should get another 3 runs in next week so could top 180 miles.

Oh and body off for 5th time as I again tussle with the brakes and gears.

I thing the right brake was problematic as it turns out the pads were almost down to the metal , new one's fitted and seems to work better.
Left brake I think the problems are either a poor disc mount or a bent disc causing a visible disc wobble.

Gears ? possibly the high gear stop is not adjusted properly causing the rear mech to start off being to far over to the left and getting worse as you go down the cassette to the low gear , making matters worse I think the mech hanger is to far away from the cassette making it hard to get into the lowest gear EVEN with the low stop screw removed !

It may very well, absolutely, totally, completely, not do what you want, but just to set it straight, its free storage is 25GB, NOT 25 pictures.
A 1200 x 1200 image (what you quoted) uses 1-3 MG, depending on the resolution, compression, format, etc.
There IS a difference between the 2 measurements - You can look it up :)
