Interesting Tilting Trike seen at a BHPC race meeting

A BHPC member has built a tilting trike. It seems to work!
I did not see it going around the corners of the cycle track in Bath, Odd Down, as I was too busy metering my outputs in my first race of the season.
So I was clearing off the cobwebs, so to speak.
I did sit in it after the racing.
It is very low to the ground, which made it difficult to bail out, and even just to dismount as you would normally from a trike.
The front end was nothing like what I'd seen before.
The tilt action is controllable, tank steering, and easily applied, as seen from the static test that I did.
The build is rugged with lots of bracing pieces to give it strength, but not too heavy, although heavier than 'my machines at 12Kg and 14Kg' it may be closer to 20Kg.
Well, it did beat me, so was it the cornering or just younger legs that did it?
I will endeavour to take photos of it in future meetings as a reveal all with permission, of course.
Stay tuned....

Taddies are very hard to get to tilt properly. Deltas have well proven methods that work to varying degrees all the way up to excellent. Was the lean separate from the steer?

No, it leaned as it steered. Neutral felt ok, it didn't do a great deal of side flopping, only when steering was applied.
He said it was from a recumbent site, 'Laidback', but there are no plans, so it was an interpretation of pictures and his own configuration and modification to make it work.

Lean-steer only really work properly for one particular bend and speed combination but I did discover that you can do the majority of bend and speed combinations on the one setting. Getting that one setting right is somewhat hard though unless the functions were separate allowing you to experiment and choose that happy middle ground. Lean-steer usually only tilt the rear wheel and seat, leaving the front wheels vertical and also usually ignore Ackerman.

Ackermann was not used/needed. The tilt had other holes for tryout settings, so he arrived at the one that worked.
The only thing that needed addressing was too much steer/leaning, which could rub the wheels on your legs.
I'm sure this will be corrected next time out.

Aye, if the front wheels don't lean you need a wider track as you move towards the wheel that moves towards you. Look forward to seeing it if possible.

Would be exciting to see pictures.

I have tried to read a lot about lean steer designs, as popshot pointed out there are caveats - seems like there is always a catch ?

The author of the jetrike tilting delta has compiled a lot of sources ( patents ) on lean steer ( fixed or independant, delta or tadpole )

Would this one be inspired by the alan maurer trike ?

I had a good look last night to see if I could find something close.
The only thing I found was this, but not the same!
A more reclined seat for a start and no suspension, not to mention the steering, tank.

One of my trikes certainly was
